NYUAD Professor of Middle Eastern Studies, Arab Crossroads Program

New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Middle Eastern studies for its Arab Crossroads program. We are searching for faculty in all disciplines (particularly Anthropology, Economics, Politics or Sociology) whose research and teaching focuses on the contemporary society and politics of the Gulf and the Middle East. We expect successful candidates to commence their appointment September 1, 2018, subject to final budget approval.

The Arab Crossroads Program forms part of a large, interdisciplinary network of teaching and research in the areas of Middle Eastern Studies and the Islamic World within the division of Arts and Humanities at NYUAD. This network includes the Library of Arabic Literature, Library of Arabic Literature fellowships, Arabic Literature Online, the Humanities Research Fellowships in Gulf and Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic Language Program, Akkasah Center for Photography, Dhakira Center for Heritage Studies in the UAE, Tharawat Family Business Histories in the UAE, as well as a wide range of teaching and research in this area in other programs including Art and Art History, Film, History, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Theater (Arts and Humanities), and Economics, Political Science, Social Research and Public Policy (Social Sciences).

The review of applications will begin in December, and will continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for campus visits to NYU Abu Dhabi in 2018. The excellent terms of employment are competitive and include generous start-up and on-going research funds, as well as housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children.
