About AGAPS

Mission Statement

The Association for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies (AGAPS) is a scholarly association. Our objectives are to promote high standards of scholarship and instruction, to facilitate collaboration among scholars and academic institutions, to encourage fieldwork and to mentor graduate students. AGAPS is multi-disciplinary and defines its area of study broadly to include the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, inclusive of the transnational flow of people, material and ideas across the Gulf, Red Sea and Indian Ocean.

Statement on Academic Freedom and Financial Independence

The Association for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic freedom, scholarly integrity and financial independence. In service of this commitment, AGAPS is sponsored by financial contributions from its members, individual scholars and academic institutions. Donations from any other sources must be consistent with the highest principles of academic freedom; AGAPS will be clear and transparent about the origin and use of any other funds received. All revenue is put to the service of the Association’s scholarly mission. AGAPS will not issue endorsements, statements or engage in research for pecuniary return.

مهمة الجمعية

جمعية دراسات الخليج وشبه الجزيرة العربية هي جمعية علمية تتمثل أهدافها في تعزيز مستويات عالية من الدراسات الأكاديمية والتعليم، تسهيل التعاون بين الباحثين والمؤسسات الأكاديمية، تشجيع البحث الميداني وتوجيه طلاب الدراسات العليا. تعتبر جمعية دراسات الخليج وشبه الجزيرة العربية جمعية متعددة التخصصات ذات نطاق دراسي واسع يشمل بلدان شبه الجزيرة العربية شامله وعابرة لحدود تدفق الأشخاص والمواد والأفكار عبر الخليج والبحر الأحمر والمحيط الهادي (من الخليج حتى المحيط).

الحرية الأكاديمية والاستقلال المالي للجمعية

كرست جمعية دراسات الخليج وشبه الجزيرة العربية جهودها للحفاظ على أعلى معايير الحرية الأكاديمية والنزاهة العلمية والاستقلال المالي. وتحقيقاً لهذا الالتزام، يتم تمويل جمعية الخليج وشبه الجزيرة العربية من خلال مساهمات مالية من قبل الأعضاء والباحثين والمؤسسات الأكاديمية.  كما يجب أن تكون التبرعات من أي مصادر أخرى تتوافق مع أعلى مبادئ الحرية الأكاديمية؛ حيث تحرص الجمعية على الوضوح والشفافية بشأن مصدر واستخدام أي أموال أخرى تتلقاها، ويتم وضع جميع الإيرادات في خدمة الرسالة العلمية للجمعية. كما ان الجمعية تلتزم بعدم اصدار أي قرارت(موافقات) أو تصريحات أو تشارك في بحث من أجل عائد مالي.
