NYUAD Call for Applications – Graduate Student Research Workshop
| "New Directions in the Study of the Arab World" February 24-26, 2025 |
| The NYU Abu Dhabi Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World program invites applications from international doctoral students for its upcoming Graduate Student Research Workshop to be hosted in spring 2025 at NYU Abu Dhabi. The workshop provides the opportunity for advanced doctoral candidates who are currently in the writing stage to present, discuss, and receive valuable feedback on their Ph.D. research related to the Arab world. Accepted applicants will pre-circulate an English-language chapter of their project and orally present a short overview of the project, raising questions or challenges to be discussed with the group. Participants will read and discuss each other’s work in addition to presenting their own. NYUAD-based scholars in a variety of disciplines will offer feedback on the students’ projects and questions related to research, writing, and professional development. The workshop is also an opportunity to meet, learn from, and develop relationships with colleagues in the field. Participants will be required to prepare a 10-minute presentation of their research project, which will be followed by 10 minutes of commentary from an assigned discussant, and a 35-minute open discussion. Applications are encouraged for projects that range across the arts, humanities, and social sciences related to the study of the Arab world, broadly defined, its rich literature and history, its cultural and artistic heritage, and its manifold connections with other cultures. The Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World program will cover travel costs to and from Abu Dhabi, accommodation, and meals during the three-day workshop. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a two-page statement about the research, a one-page work plan with the projected date of completion of the degree, an abstract of the chapter that would be presented, and a letter of recommendation from the dissertation advisor. | دعوة للتقديم - ورشة بحثية لطلاب الدراسات العليا "اتجاهات جديدة في دراسة العالم العربي" ٢٤-٢٦ فبراير، ٢٠٢٥ |
| يدعو برنامج زمالة أبحاث العلوم الإنسانية لدراسة العالم العربي في جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي لتقديم طلاب الدكتوراه دولياً لورشته البحثية القادمة لطلاب الدراسات العليا، والتي سيتم عقدها في ربيع ٢٠٢٥ في جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي. و توفر الورشة فرصة للطلاب المرشحين لنَيل درجة الدكتوراه ذوي المستوى المتقدم والذين هم في مرحلة الكتابة حالياً لعرض ومناقشة أبحاثهم المتعلقة بالعالم العربي وتلقي تعقيبات قيمة عليها. سيقوم المتقدمون المقبولون بتوزيع فصل باللغة الإنجليزية من مشروعهم بشكل مسبق، ومن ثَم سيقدمون عرضًا شفويًا قصيرًا للمشروع، طارحين الأسئلة أو التحديات ليتم نقاشها مع المجموعة. و سيقرأ كل مشارك أعمال المشاركين الآخرين ويناقشها٬ بالإضافة إلى عرض العمل الخاص به. وسيقوم الباحثون المتخصصون في مجموعة من المجالات المختلفة من جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي بالتعقيب على مشاريع الطلاب، وطرح أسئلة متعلقة بالبحث والكتابة والتطوير المهني. تٌعتبر ورشة العمل أيضًا فرصة للقاء زملاء في المجال والتعلم منهم وتكوين العلاقات. و سيُطلَب من كل مناقش إعداد عرض لمشروعه البحثي مدته عشر دقائق يعقبه تعليق لمدة عشر دقائق من مناقش مختص، ثم نقاش مفتوح لمدة ٣٥ دقيقة. و نشجع على تقديم الطلبات لمشروعات متنوعة من مختلف تخصصات الفنون والعلوم الإنسانية والعلوم الاجتماعية المتعلقة بدراسة العالم العربي بتعريفه الواسع، وتاريخه وآدابه الثرية، وتراثه الثقافي والفني، وارتباطاته المتشعبة مع الثقافات الأخرى. و برنامج زمالة أبحاث العلوم الإنسانية لدراسة العالم العربي سيغطي تكاليف السفر من وإلى أبوظبي والإقامة والوجبات أثناء ورشة العمل التي تستمر لمدة ثلاثة أيام. و على المتقدمين إرسال سيرة ذاتية، وإفادة من صفحتين عن البحث، وخطة عمل من صفحة واحدة، مع الموعد المتوقع لإكمال الدرجة العلمية وملخص للفصل الذي سيتم تقديمه وخطاب توصية من مستشار الرسالة. يجب تقديم جميع المواد المذكورة باللغة الإنجليزية. و الداعون للمؤتمر: ناتالي بوتز و إيرين بيتيجرو تاريخ بدء التقديم: ١ يوليو ٢٠٢٤ آخر موعد للتقديم:١٦ سبتمبر ٢٠٢٤ سيتم اختيار المشاريع في بداية شهر نوفمبر ٢٠٢٤ |
