2015 AGAPS Dissertation Award & Graduate Paper Prize Winners

The Association for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies (AGAPS) has announced its 2015 Graduate Paper Prize & PhD Dissertation Award winners.

The PhD Dissertation Award went to ANDREA WRIGHT for her exceptional historical ethnography in Migratory Pipelines: Labor and Oil in the Arabian Sea (Doctoral Program in History and Anthropology, University of Michigan, 2015; supervised by Farina Mir and Matthew Hull).

The Graduate Paper Prize went to ALEX BOODROOKAS for his paper “Law and Manumission in Oman and the Trucial Coast, 1925–32” (from an MA-level course on the Political Cultures of Empire co-taught by Fred Cooper, Jane Burbank, and Elizabeth Benton, Department of History, New York University, 2015).  Mr Boodrookas is a PhD student in Middle Eastern History at NYU.
